GLEN — The residents of Glen now have a safe haven in case of a tornado.

The Glen storm shelter, completed last week, is one of 10 storm shelters planned for Alcorn County. The 14-by-14 foot shelter sits on the east side of the town hall.

Another shelter is located at Farmington Town Hall.

Glen Mayor John Little tells the Daily Corinthian that the shelter will be open to any resident in the community.

The shelter can house 50 people. The shelter sits on the ground and is constructed with heavily reinforced structural steel along with tons of concrete. It is anchored two feet in the ground to hold the 1.25 inch metal straps that secures the shelter firmly to the ground.
