OKOLONA - It took a little while, but the Rams (3-8, 3-2) were able to heat up the bats to sweep the Okolona Chieftains in their March 23 division doubleheader.

Vardaman 11, Okolona 5 - 8 innings

The Chiefs hung with the Rams 5-5 through the game to force the extra inning, but that was one step too far.

The Rams sent twelve batters to the plate in the top of the eighth inning and came away with six runs to pick up an 11-5 game one division victory.

Vardaman 15 Okolona 0 - 4 innings

The Rams carried their hot bats over into the second game as they blitzed Okolona for 10 runs on seven hits in the first inning and added another in the second when Criddle drove in Jonathan Haire with a single to left.

Vardaman closed the game by scoring five runs in the bottom of the fourth.

The Chiefs didn't get any more action on the field last week due to weather and cancelled their weekend game with Aberdeen.
