HOUSTON -On Friday, June 5, we had church services from Parkway Baptist Church. The speaker today was Larry Wright and his wife Elaine. We really enjoyed them. We had a good time. We had 19 present with 1 visitor. We had our council meeting this afternoon. Grace Moore opened with prayer. We really had a good time. We had 22 present.
On Saturday, June 6, we had our crochet class. We really had a good time. We are always learning new things. If you already know how to crochet come crochet with us. Maybe you can teach us something new. We watched T.V. and visited with friends and relatives in the afternoon. We had a good time.
On Sunday, June 7, church services were conducted by Bro. Kenneth Wilson from the First Pentecostal Church. Piano player and song leader was Anita Vance. We had 22 present with 1 visitor. Church services were conducted by Bro. Herman Martin from the West Side Church of Christ. We had a good service with 15 present. Mrs. Ava Garner's visitors for the weekend were Glenda Brooks, Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Ellison and children, Claire and Trent from Vicksburg, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Garner, and La Nelle McMullin of Columbus.
On Monday, June 8, we had exercise in the morning. We really enjoyed it. We had 26 present. We played bingo in the afternoon. We always enjoy it. Helpers were Jo Ellen Free, Ruth Gann, Thelma Allen, Nelda Moore, and Megan Reed. Winners were Mary Evans, Mrs. Vancleave, Grace Moore, Thelma McQuary, Ruble Parker, Etyole Nabors, and Bertie Blanton.
On Tuesday, June 9, we had story time from Parkway Baptist Church. Makayla Pullen came and read to us. She is the daughter of Ralph and Dianne Pullen. We had 24 present with 2 visitors. Church services were conducted by Bro. Kenneth Wilson from the First Pentecostal Church. Piano player was Anita Vance. We had 21 present.
On Wednesday, June 10, church services were conducted by Bro. Steve Lampkin from the McCondy Methodist Church. Charlene Clark and her grandson, Dexter Blissard, played the piano. Bro. Steve's granddaughter Erie and his wife Judy were also present. We had a good crowd from the church today. We had a good time and had 21 present with one visitor.
On Thursday, June 11, we played bingo with the Golden Girls. We always have a good time. Helpers were Janice James, Marceline Porter, Darlene Pettit, Sherry Spears, Francis Pumphrey, Nell Brasswell, and Peggy Falls. Winners were Ruble Parker, Inez Castle, Ruby Hodnett, Grace Moore, Ruth Lancaster, Ava Garner, Zula Warnick, Dixie Norman, Catherine Reeves, Mary Dexter, Laura Box, Pauline Gibson, Corrine Moore, and Johnnie Duncan. We had 31 present with seven visitors. Thanks to the VFW Auxiliary for their donation to help with the Golden Girls' activities at Floy Dyer Manor.
