HEBRON - The Varsity and JV Lady Eagles returned to action on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at home against Starkville Christian. The Lady Eagles dominated from the beginning with tough defense and rebounding and put three players in double figures to earn a 55-25 win. Senior Laura Beth Moore led all scorers with 14 points to go along with her 9 rebounds. Other scorers included; Cathryn Moore 13 points 2 assists, Hillary Arnold 11 points 6 assists and 5 rebounds, Chelsea Holcombe 5 points 4 rebounds, Magen Tapley 3 points 8 rebounds 4 steals, Brittany Ousley 4 points 3 rebounds, Ruth Foster 2 points 3 steals, and Beverly Blake 3 points. Also seeing action were Laura Catherine Horn and Taylor Jane Taggert. The Lady Eagles are now 5-1 on the season.
In JV action, Alaina Hill scored 27 points and had 8 rebounds and Chloe Tapley had a triple double 12 points, 11 assists, and 11 steals to lead the Lady Eagles to a 30-5 halftime lead and earned a 50 point, 61-11, win. Taylor Lancaster also had 12 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals for the Junior Eagles. Other scorers included Shelby Arnold with 4 points, 2 steals and MaKenna Gammel added 6 points. Also seeing action were Erica Dukes, Savannah Gable, and Lauren Walker. The Junior Eagles now have a record of 4-2.
The Varsity boys team grabbed a nice 66-48 win over Starkville Christian with a second half rally after being down eight points at the half.
"They (Hebron) closed it up and went up by two points," said Michael Shelton. "In the fourth quarter we outscored them 27-11."
Jordan Jackson led with 19 points, followed by Blake Harrell with 18 and Carlton Clay with 17.
The JV boys team romped over Starkville's JV squad with a 47-10 win. Will C. Rogers led with 13 points; Gray Crosthwait had nine; Hayden Carty had eight; Collin Moore had five; Hayden Pate and James Allen Moore each posted four.
Varsity/JV splits with Jackson
The Varsity boys team started off the week with a close game with the Jackson Victors but came out on top 58-57 for the win, after battling neck-and-neck throughout.
Blake Harrell led the Eagles with 21 points, followed by Carlton Clay with 20. Jordan Jackson came in with 11 points in the winning effort.
The JV dropped to Jackson 41-50 with Christopher Moody leading the scoring with 15 points, followed by Gray Crosthwait with 11 and Will Corbin Rogers with 10.
Eagles take two
over Grace Christian
The JV and Varsity boys both gained wins over Grace Christian in Louisville on Nov. 12.
The JV took a 40-11 win with Troy Arnold leading the scoring with eight. Will Corbin Rogers had seven; James Allen Moore had six; Drew Harrell had five; Taylor Coggins and Gray Crosthwait had four each; Collin Moore, Hayden Pate and Cameron Smith all had two each.
The Varsity brought home a big 70-24 victory with Clay leading the scoring with 15. Jackson put up 14; Haley Simmons had 12; Chai Jones had eight; Ryan Pinnix had six; Blake Harrell had five; Hearne Foster had four; William Allen Westbrook had four; chance Smith had two.
"We had nine on the floor and all nine scored," Shelton said.
