From staff reports
HOUSTON - The Houston Hilltoppers gained two wins last week, one coming in district play.
The Topper hosted the Panthers of Amory last Tuesday in a lop-sided win that saw the Houston boys lead throughout.
The Hilltoppers posted a 22-1 lead at the end of the first quarter and stretched it out to 46-13 at the half.
The Amory boys posted double digits in the second and third quarter, but it wasn't nearly enough to keep up with the Toppers who easily took a 84-32 win.
Leading for Houston were Evander Wofford with 18, Shawn Wright with 14, Devante Pulliam with 12. Shaquille Vance and Jimmy Henderson both posted ten points.
On Friday, the Toppers played a non-district game against Louisville who they will see in district on Feb. 3. The Toppers gained other early lead, 18-5, over the Tigers and didn't let it get away from them throughout the game. The Tigers made a rally with 20 points in the second quarter but the Toppers matched them and went on to the 69-48 win.
Wofford led with 16, followed by Pulliam with 14.
The win put the Toppers at 10-4 on the season and 1-0 in district.
