OKOLONA – The Okolona Chieftains got rained out of their first trip to the diamond this season, but made up for it with a double-header division win over Smithville on March 3.

The Chiefs enjoyed a comfortable lead through six inning, but the Seminoles got a rally going in the seventh. Chiefs pitcher, Vince Brock, got loose and had three errors in hit batters, but settled back down and gained control.
The Chiefs got the final out for the win with the tying run stranded on third. Assistant Coach John Michael Tacker said the coaching staff was pleased with the outcome.
“Vince was able to pitch the complete game and did a nice job for the first game of the year,” Tacker said.
Game TwoCorrielle Garth took the hill for the second game of the day and got a win under his belt to start the season.
“He came out and threw the ball nicely,” Tacker said.
The Chiefs committed some errors that led to an early 4-0 Tremont lead, but the Chiefs got their bats going in the bottom of the third to load the bases and start a one-out rally.
The Okolona boys scored all five of their run in the third and held the lead for the win and a nice 2-0 start in regular season and division.
