ECRU - The Lady Wildcats split a pair of games on Friday in the North Pontotoc Tournament.

Houlka 7, Walnut 2

Mallory Meyers got the Lady Wildcats going when she reached on a single and eventually scored on a pass ball, but Houlka struggled to get anything going afterwards as five of the next seven batters went down on strike outs.

Macey Heair finally broke the hitless streak with a single in the second, but once again it appeared the Lady Cats would struggle at the plate with the next two batters grounding out to the pitcher and striking out with Haire standing on first base.

Candiace McIntosh reached on an error before Courtney Woodard provide a spark with a two-run triple to give Houlka a 3-0 edge. Marissa Hobson reached on an error to score Woodard before Jhelesia Young drove in Hobson with a triple.

The parade of extra base hits continued as Heair ripped a triple to start the fourth and came around to score on a sacrifice fly to center by Meyers. Townsend followed with the Lady Cats' fourth triple of the game and scored when McIntosh reached on an error.

Heair gave up three hits, struck out three, allowed one walk, and hit one Walnut batter in the 7-2 victory.

East Union 10, Houlka 7

In a game where anything one team could do the other team tried to better saw Houlka and East Union enter the final frame tied at 7-7, but a RBI triple and an in-the-park home run allowed the unbeaten Lady Urchins to escape with a 10-7 victory when the game was called in the bottom of the third due to the time limit.

Townsend finished 2-for-2 with a single and an in-the-park home run along with two runs scored and two runs batted in. Woodard also went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI singles and one run scored.
