4H Shooting Sports
heads to Nationals- The Chickasaw County 4H Shooting Sports team is currently training for the National competition to be heldin Omaha, Neb. and is soliciting sponsors to assist them on their trip. The team, sponsored by non-profit organizations, the Natchez Trace Gun Club and the county 4-H, is under the leadership and direction of Linda Dendy and will spend a week in Omaha in competition with other participants from around the nation.
To help fund their trip, the club will hold fundraising events including:
May 9
• Yard Sale at the old Big Star/Piggly Wiggly building on South Jackson Street. Hamburgers, hot dogs, drinks and baked goods will also be available.
May 16
• Car Wash at the Hardee's parking lot on North Jackson Street from 6 a.m until noon.
Funds raised will sponsor this year's trip and any additional funds will be banked for upcoming teams.
BGC summer registration- Registration for the summer program at the Houston Boys and Girls club will begin Thursday, May 7. The summer program will begin on June 1 and continue for eight week during the school vacation. A $75 activity fee is required per child. The club is located on Malcomb Street in Houston.
LIFT to hold public meeting- LIFT, Inc. wil hold a Public Meeting on May 14 at 11 a.m. at the Van Vleet office. Fiscal year expenditures and the ARRA Stimulus will be on the agenda. An Energy and Budgeting workshop will follow. County Coordinator, Gloria White, invites the public to attend. LIFT, Inc. is a non-profit organization. VBS calendar seeking input- The Chickasaw Journal will publish a calendar of Vacation Bible School dates and themes at no charge to local churches as a public service to our readers. Please submit your churches' information to be printed.
