The members of Team Hope Houston have committed gain to participate in the walk in Atlanta again this year.
The team trains year-round for this event that helps make a difference in the lives of those who have been affected by breast cancer.

Girl Scout leaders needed- Local Girl Scout supporters are actively recruiting more leaders to expand troops in this area. Volunteer leaders are needed immediately and will be appreciated.

McMullen benefit- The Houston Hot Shots softball team is selling chances on a recliner to benefit Coach Toby McMullen who was injured in an accident on July 20. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and are available from any Hot Shots team members, at Kilgore’s Furniture and Appliances or by calling Heather Boyer at 542-0775. Drawing will be held Sept. 5 at 10 a.m. at Kilgore’s Furniture in Houston.
Blues Trail Marker presentation- On October 16, the public is invited for a special presentation by the Historic Blues Trail Marker at Joe Brigance Park honoring Bukka White. White lived outside Houston and was a pioneer of the blues music in Mississippi during the 1920’s and 1930’s.
The program is sponsored by the Chickasaw County Historical and Genealogical Society. The society is currently raising funds to complete a museum in Houston. Contact any member for more information.
