Special to the Chickasaw Journal

CUMBERLAND - Despite a lackluster start, the East Webster Wolverines came back strong on offense in the next three quarters and showed the East Oktbehha Titans why they are ranked #1 in 1-1A football this year.

The Wolverines posted only one TD in the first quarter on senior Reggie O'Briant's five-yard push, but racked up 35 second quarter points on their way to a 62-0 blowout marking Homecoming festivities.

Michael Flowers got things started in the second quarter with a seven-yard TD run and the Wolves gained a TD on each possession after.

Demetrius O'Briant drove over a five-yard TD in the third, one of his three in the game, before the first string hit the bench and the younger players added two more RD for the shutout.

The Wolverines are idle this week and will close out the regular season at West Lowndes on Nov. 7. The Panthers have come out as a spoiler team this season and, although a potential win won't affect the Wolves standing for playoff berths, it could ripple into Vardaman and Smithville's chances. However, before that happens, the Wolves will have to actually lose a game. Not a likely prospect.
