FULTON - Itawamba Community College will host homecoming activities all week long on both the Tupelo and Fulton campuses with the highlight of the week, a football contest against Coahoma on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
The Indians are coming off a 40-34 shootout at the hands of 13th ranked East Mississippi on Saturday in West Point. Kenard Springer of Nettleton threw three touchdown passes, two of them to fellow Nettleton native Jeremy Word, and rushed for another in the defeat, which officially eliminated ICC from the post-season for the first time since 2003. Houston sophomore Ty Hardin carried the ball six times for 37 yards and his first touchdown of the season.
Head coach Jeff Terrill's program had been the only one in the entire state to have earned a spot in the MACJC state playoffs in each of the last four seasons.
"There's no question, it's been a tough year for all of us and that's something we haven't experienced in a while here at ICC," said Terrill, whose 2007 squad won the north division title.
"But we played extremely hard last Saturday and just about pulled off a nice upset of a team that's ranked high in the national polls."
Terrill added that he and his staff have challenged the team to "finish strong this year." A victory Saturday over much-improved Coahoma, would guarantee a third place finish in the north for Itawamba.
