HOUSTON – The Lady Toppers upped their record to 7-0 win a win last week over the Lady Tigers of Winona. Although the game was non-division, it was a preview for both teams who will face each other in the second half of the season in district play.
The Lady Toppers posted a 12-9 lead at the end of the first quarter and extended it to a 28-19 lead at the half. The lady Tigers showed some spark, but not consistently enough to get past the Houston girls man defense or over their shooting ability.
The Lady Toppers returned to the floor in the second half much the same, posting double digits in the third and fourth, while holding the Lady Tiers to only six points in the third and ten in the fourth for the 59-35 win.
Leading the scoring for Houston were Kenyattah Wofford and Tynita Baker with 13 each, followed by Kat Payne with nine.
